The line between counselling and coaching is sometimes blurry. While coaching tends to focus on the present and the future, counselling is a therapeutic process that also helps the individual to analyse and come to terms with their past. Reflecting on the past is beneficial for most and necessary for others in order to advance in life.
Past events that haven’t been processed or have been wrongfully interpreted can hold you back from achieving your goals. Counselling provides a safe, non-judgmental and confidential space where you can share your past events that may carry a multitude of emotions including shame, anger or sadness.
Counselling helps people regain wellbeing and clear decision making. Sharing your issues, concerns and fears with a trained professional lessens the effects of these on your life because it reduces the shame associated with them. I believe that everyone can improve their life regardless of their starting point.
